Nestled in the heart of Rowland Heights, New Capital Seafood Restaurant is a vibrant culinary gem specializing in authentic Chinese and seafood cuisine that truly delights the palate. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by a spacious, bustling atmosphere that reflects the energy and passion poured into every dish.
The menu is a treasure trove of Cantonese-style seafood and classic Chinese favorites, with offerings that will captivate both dim sum enthusiasts and seafood lovers alike. Their Assorted Dim Sum Heaven presents an exquisite variety of bite-sized delicacies — each steamed or fried to perfection, with flavors that burst with freshness and bold spices. It's no surprise that guests like Maya S. have praised the dim sum as “delicious” and markedly improved in quality upon recent visits.
For a heartier experience, signature dishes like Lobster with Green Onions and Ginger offer tender lobster bathed in a fragrant ginger sauce that balances subtle sweetness with savory depth. While one reviewer noted the lobster as “okay” compared to the East Coast's benchmarks, the generous portion and vibrant Asian flavors make it a standout here. Another must-try is the highly recommended Peking Duck, boasting crispy skin and rich, aromatic meat, elegantly paired with pancakes and hoisin sauce.
The menu also shines with dishes like Shrimp with Walnut in Special Sauce — a perfect harmony of crunchy texture and creamy, sweet sauce — and the comforting Crab Meat with Fish Maw Soup, which warms the soul with its silky broth and delicate seafood flavors. Vegetable lovers will appreciate the freshness of the Steamed Chinese Broccoli, which provides a refreshing contrast to the rich, meaty selections.
New Capital Seafood also offers an impressive array of beef dishes, such as Sliced Fillet Steak with Chinese Yevon Chives and Fillet Steak with Wild Mushrooms, each plate infused with deep, savory notes and tender cuts that are a cut above the average. The lunch menu features accessible, satisfying options like House Special Chow Mein and Beef Chow Fun, providing ample choices for both quick bites and leisurely meals.
The dining space, though sometimes noted for its aging carpet, remains spacious and comfortable, ideal for families and groups craving a genuine taste of Chinese seafood cuisine. Parking can be a challenge during busy hours, but regulars attest the rewarding dining experience is well worth the minor inconvenience.
Service here is attentive and consistent; as John Elmer observed, the staff ensures you feel well cared for throughout your meal. Plus, with exciting promotions like the $0.99 lobster deal on qualifying orders—mentioned enthusiastically by Brad Zhou—New Capital Seafood continues to attract and reward loyal patrons.
Whether you’re in the mood for dim sum to satisfy midday cravings, a festive dinner with Peking duck and fresh seafood, or simply want to indulge in authentic flavors prepared with care and finesse, New Capital Seafood Restaurant delivers an inviting, flavorful journey deeply rooted in tradition and quality.
Big place and excellent meal. Loved the chow fun. Beef was excellent. Lobster was ok. ( I was just in Maine so hard to compare). Service was attentive
I visited this place more than dozen times in last 12 months and recently we found that there is a new promotion: $0.99 for a lobster along with a new menu with updated price (slighting adjusting upwards, as everyone is dong that) as long as your order is 39.99 or more. This deal itself is unheard of and doesn’t need any further discussion: food quality is still the same, service is the same, etc.
If you're craving dim sum, this place is definitely worth a try. The dim sum menu is solid, offering a decent variety of dishes that satisfy those midday cravings. The food quality is good overall, flavorful, and filling. However, when it comes to dinner time, the experience takes a bit of a dive. The dinner menu isn't particularly impressive, and the foods lack in flavor. I wouldn't recommend coming during dinner time. The service, unfortunately, leaves a lot to be desired. The staff can be a bit inattentive and, at times, even rude.
We haven't been here in years because the quality of the food wasn't to our liking. I spoke to a friend and tsge told me to try them again. So my husband and I went for brunch and she was right. The dimsum was delicious and the quality improved 100% from the last time. I would recommend thus place and we didn't have to wait. We were seated right away. I guess because it was a Monday.
Good food, old carpet. This restaurant is popular. It is located right off the 60 Freeway, near the Fullerton exit. However, it is slow to get into the Plaza parking lot and it is not easy to find a parking space most time. The food is good and authentic, delicious. Since I am Chinese and I compared it with other similar seafood restaurant, it is certainly fresh and offered high quality seafood and soup, live king crabs, etc. I like the authentic and high quality way of cooking to be so fresh and keeps the original flavor. I certainly will come back to this restaurant again. Even though, I noticed that it has old and dirty carpet for such a high quality restaurant. At least, my stomach is happy but not my eyes.
Visited for dim sum on a Saturday morning. It's located on the second level of the plaza. It was busy when I arrived around 11:00am, so make sure your entire party is present before checking in so you can be seated. There's plenty of parking available. The atmosphere: Very spacious with lots of seating for both small and large groups. Expect it to be loud and bustling. The food: Excellent dim sum selection. I loved the quality and generous size of the ha cao and shumai, honestly some of the best I've had. The turnip cakes were also a standout, especially since you can watch them being cooked fresh. The service: No-frills and straightforward, but attentive overall.
The service was authentically bad, which made us excited - because we know the food would be awesome. It did not disappoint. Great ambience. Super legit hk style dim sum place.
